A Class And A Half

Hello! Welcome to the blog A Class And A Half. This blog will be taking a closer look into the point of view that the Council Members have. Who are they? Well, they are the people you'll spot around site, sporting the lovely green colour! Not the Queen's; a brighter green than that! They teach the classes, ranging from Healing and Herbology to Hand to Hand Combat. Interested? You should be, keep reading!

And up today is Aileen Addington, with her class Myths and Legends!!

Thoughts on having to teach?

Teaching is a challenge, especially for someone like me who doesn’t exactly like being in the center of attention. Nevertheless, I find myself more relaxed each time I walk into the classroom because I know it won’t be as bad as I imagine it to be.

What is your class?

Myth and Legends is a course that focuses on possibilities in my opinion. We travel through stories, both old an new, that are related to the lore of kingdoms and villages. Throughout the years, I bring my students through different aspects of lore and mythical beings that they may have heard stories of growing up

What is this course like?

The course is not easy, but I like to think I make it enjoyable. Sometimes the assignments I give are regular, but others are unusual. For instance, when you reach my fifth year instead of a review game, I ask my students to create a play. So far it has been a smashing success and all students have enjoyed it. Nevertheless, students are expected to learn lots of material in a year, but I always encourage my students to come to me if they need help.

What's the best part?

The best part is always seeing the excitement and wonder on my students faces when I am teaching. Sometimes the class is so engaged that my students are very reluctant to leave. That always brings a smile to my face.

What's the worst part?

When students don’t raise their hands. I know that sometimes I am a bit strict with it, but hand raising is not only respectful, but it saves me a headache from the bombardment of questions that are screamed my way. Honestly, is it that hard to raise your hand?
