catalina's travel diaries

⋅⊰ maybe my experience can be helpful...

Being an emissary only suited those, who could travel without any problems. Many thought that traveling was the easiest part, but it definitely wasn't. Anyone could be taught to become a diplomat, but if one cannot travel well, they might as well have cursed their life for eternity.

Thankfully, I wasn't one of those. I had no seasickness to conquer, no crankiness to subdue (I have enough self realization that I am always cranky), no tiredness to get over with. Lucky, I know.

But of course, there is always more playing in the fields. Finding a place is hard, finding food to eat is hard, finding a gem in the city full of boring things is hard. I have gone and talked to the locals and the royals, and maybe my experience can help you next time you go travel.

I don't help often, so I'd suggest taking up the offer.

⋅⊰ is doranelle a city or kingdom?

Doranelle, often mistaken for a kingdom, is popularly known as City of Rivers. It is most popular as Immortal Lands, meaning that only pure blooded Fae reside here. However, in the coming days, this has changed immensely and all races have found a home in this beautiful city.

Doranelle is surrounded by water, promptly built to keep the famed Galathynius bloodline away during the Valg War. The valley in which the city is situated in, is surrounded by lush forests and rough mountains. Overall, it's a pretty city, and you will see a lot of formations with pale stone, and the first one would be the two stone bridges as the entrance of the city. On the north side, the rivers fall in the ocean as a waterfalls along with its tributaries, mist floating on domes and other buildings as it falls into the basin.

Located beyond the Cambrian Mountains and with rivers on all sides, the weather is pleasant almost always, making anytime to be perfect to visit. It will not be hard to find an inn or places to visit, because no matter if it is just like an island, you have plenty to see!

⋅⊰ the hidden gems within a gem

If I have to say, going to the waterfall is traveler's first destination, and rightfully so. But instead of going right at the bottom of the waterfall (which is a long way down), why not find a spot in the cliffs that surround the waterfall? You still get the feeling of being under the cascading waters, and the spot is secluded as well.

If you are into swimming, then you should definitely take a dip in one of the rivers on the south side of the city. The water is cool and clean and pleasing, and is safer than other rivers because of their stagnant flow. You won't swim away, I promise!

You could also always take a trip to the forests, although it would be best to bring the hunting gear. The woodland is full of wild animals, so might as well make it a hunt, right? Just spare the tigers, yeah? Those are sparse.

With the night ending, take a route to the alleys, and you'll hear sweet music of the Old Language. Some may not understand, but the melody is mesmerizing to hear anyway. For a few hundred coins, you can get a live show and even participate!

⋅⊰ travel, food, sleep: the life

Doranelle is the city of Fae royals, and so most of the things are very expensive. If you plan to stay around, I suggest taking up one of the cheaper inns down the corner. You will find a good place to rest for as low as 500 gold coins, and honestly, that's what most people should have for. There is plenty to see, so why spend more time than necessary in the inn room?

For food, you will find many street vendors, and trust me, street food is the best (although unhealthy) food. The most famed is the meat on a stick, which mainly grew popular centuries ago, when Prince Rowan were found eating those with extreme fervor!

Do remember to keep some money saved for the return trip. Unless you have a wing or an avian form, the only way out of the city are the boats.

That would be all for the day! I hope I have helped you out in gaining the best experience in traveling.
