'Delcan Emmet'

Alright, full disclosure- even the people running our site have people to report to. And sometimes those people give us some super helpful suggestions about what kinds of content we should consider posting to our site to draw more people in. Recently we were provided with some of the top Google searches in relation to our fandom. Most of them are what you'd expect- Feyre, Lucien, Tamlin, the likes. And of course: 'Declan Emmet'

Guess who's back, back again. Calla's back, tell a friend! No seriously tell your friends about these blogs cause they are my pride and joy right now haha. Hello dear readers and welcome to our next installment of Fan Fridays where we will focus on our wonderful Gay Representation: Declan Emmet.

Declan Emmet: The Most Well Adjusted

Sarah seems to love traumatizing and torturing each and every one of her characters, even those that appear on the side but by the grace of god Declan appears to have mostly escaped this trend.

Declan Emmet: Background

Our delightful fae boy comes from a rich fae family though not one with noble ties. It is said he had an average childhood, or at least as average a childhood as a fae can have, which leaves him to be the most well adjusted of his group of friends. A friend group which includes Ruhn "Daddy Issues" Danaan and Tristan "I Hate Responsibilities" Flynn for those of you whom have forgotten.

Delcan Emmet: Hackerman

Hacker voice:"I'm In." Jk Jk Jk he unfortunately does not pull out the hacker man voice but he is an anticapitalist king who breaks through the Republic's websites just to turn around and charge them inordinant amounts of money to reveal how exactly he did that. Really it is no wonder at all that he had to find himself a pretty lawyer boyfriend to cover his nonexistant tail.

Declan Emmet: Gay Representation

Straight woman writes reasonable gay character!!! Panic!!!

Declan Emmet and his Boyfriend

It can be a challenge for any author to write an experience that they have not personally gone through in a way that makes it feel realistic to readers but I have to give props to Sarah J Maas for her LGBTQ+ relationship representations and how authentic they feel. Helion in ACOTAR did not feel like a caricature and neither does Declan in Crescent City. He has a healthy and authentic relationship with Marc Rosarin, a leopard shifter who works as a laywer and a tech entrepreneur. Anytime the two were in a scene together their interactions felt natural, their conversations were not forced, and honestly I was happy to see Declan as the first of the three boys to settle down into what appeared to be a semi-serious relationship. Though I'm sure his boyfriend being a type of shifter had at least a little to do with that ;)

Final Thoughts

Alright there are about a million things I could say on the topic of Declan Emmet but I have to restrain myself at some point. Overall, Declan is a realistically written individual with many wonderful attributes that I enjoy quite a bit. It is a nice change of pace from our traditional tall, dark, and broody males.
