Alright, full disclosure- even the people running our site have people to report to. And sometimes those people give us some super helpful suggestions about what kinds of content we should consider posting to our site to draw more people in. Recently we were provided with some of the top Google searches in relation to our fandom. Most of them are what you'd expect- Feyre, Lucien, Tamlin, the likes. And of course: 'High Priestess'.
High Priestesses are a relatively unknown entity in our fandom, aren't they? There are really two of current note- Ianthe, who is terrible, and Clotho, who we haven't really explored too much yet but is intriguing. But you know why High Priestesses are super interesting? Because they're a status here! Perhaps maybe a status going for sale in the new future, you never know! So let's focus on that- what could you do as a High Priestess?
What makes a High Priestess a High Priestess?
One of the great perks of being a High Priestess is the fact that you can communicate directly with the Cauldron and Mother. They are the middle man between the Deities and Prythian. That alone gives them leverage over any other person in Prythian. Need something? Ask a God! It's also why they preside over so many rituals and ceremonies- they truly can receive the blessing of the deities. Incredible, right?
Here's one thing that we haven't really gotten too much of attention- Lucien has noted in the past that High Priestesses have a deadly arsenal of magic at their disposal, should they choose to use it. From what we've seen of Clotho, I don't doubt it. Apparently, they draw magic from the rituals they perform. So not only would you be able to talk directly to the deities, with the magic you're drawing from the ceremonies and rituals you're performing you've got more than enough to hold your own. High Priestesses kinda kick butt.
There's not much else we know about High Priestesses, but here's what we've got.
There are apparently only twelve High Priestess in Prythian. Twelve women to helm all of the Priestesses. I've always wondered why it's twelve, considering how there's only seven courts (currently- whether Dusk Court ever existed is another debate). That's not divisible, which is especially odd given Ianthe's world domination ploy. Maybe we don't know the full mechanics of the Pantheon yet? Or maybe I'm just drawing a blank. But one thing is for certain- it is an exclusive position to be in.
Out of the twelve we know that one High Priestess frequents Spring Court (Ianthe) and one lives in the Night Court (Clotho). But aside from that, we don't have too much information other than that they tend to burrow in the Dawn, Day and Winter Courts- and of course that the minute there was any threat from Amarantha they fled. Court loyalty does not seem to be a descriptor of the job. Perhaps they, by nature, do not truly have a Court to call home. It would be interesting to see more about this.
Again, as I said, you may see the High Priestess status available soon. Interested? Perhaps consider adding it to your character! We'd love to see some High Priestesses around.
