'Illyrian'

Alright, full disclosure- even the people running our site have people to report to. And sometimes those people give us some super helpful suggestions about what kinds of content we should consider posting to our site to draw more people in. Recently we were provided with some of the top Google searches in relation to our fandom. Most of them are what you'd expect- Feyre, Lucien, Tamlin, the likes. Well, this week we got: 'Illyrian'.

Ah, the Illyrians. The race of our beloved bad boys, and the source of your wing fantasies. Maybe they're not all the best of people, but we still love them, don't we? Let's have a bit of fun with our Illyrians, shall we? And remember, if you want to be an Illyrian you can take our Race Class to obtain the race!

Illyrian Wingspan

Have you ever thought about how big Illyrian's wings would have to be to get them in the air? As it turns out, a lot of our fandom has. Based on the math using the proportions of wingspans for several species of bats, you can expect (based on height) for an Illyrian's wingspan to be anywhere from 30-40 ft. That's massive. Can you imagine having to carry those things around? It makes my back hurt just thinking about it. But, it does serve well for some things. You know what they say about wingspan.

Siphons

There's not a lot said on Siphons, is there? They're another one of the big features for Illyrians. Gems that help Illyrians channel what magic they have and use it for war. It's necessary regulation, otherwise the magic goes haywire. They use them to make weapons and shields out of magic. Isn't that awesome? It makes you wonder what more the magic could make. It could be cool to explore, couldn't it?

Is this an excuse to look at pretty boys? Maybeeeee... Let's take a peek at some fan favorites.

Azriel

The Shadowsinger of the Night Court himself. A quiet soul. Not gentle by any means- we know for a fact that he's the one responsible for interrogations- but certainly calmer. There is so so much that we don't know about Azriel and that's all very intriguing but let's be honest- most of us are interested in Az because we want to be Elain or Gwyn. The mystery around him makes him so very attractive, and added with the fact that he's debatably the softest of the three Illyrians... swoon.

I mean look at him. And the shadows. The shadows.

Cassian

The Lord of Bloodshed. How are we all feeling after A Court of Silver Flames? Yeah, any of us who were simping for Cassian before are simping even more now. We've always loved Cassian for being the best friend Feyre could ask for. He's a giant, but there's a playfulness in his nature that makes him loveable. And him and Nesta? Nessian stans, anyone? But aside from that he's also not hard on the eyes either.

Emerie

Obviously I saved the best for last. Emerie was one of the best things to happen to the series, hands down, and no one talks about her enough. Girlie is a Valkyrie. She went through every bad thing a woman in her position could go through, including being clipped. And what did she do? Become a total badass! And also like one of the best friends Nesta could possibly have asked for. And to put the cherry on top she is also swoon-worthy.
