'Amren ACOTAR'

Alright, full disclosure- even the people running our site have people to report to. And sometimes those people give us some super helpful suggestions about what kinds of content we should consider posting to our site to draw more people in. Recently we were provided with some of the top Google searches in relation to our fandom. Most of them are what you'd expect- Feyre, Lucien, Tamlin, the likes. Well, this week we got: 'Amren ACOTAR'.

Without Amren ACOTAR would probably be a lot shorter of a series, let's be real. Is she ever the focal point of any main plot? Not really! But she is kind of the glue that holds a lot of things together. And the brains, so that no one does anything too stupid. She's also just such an enigma. Let's take a look at Amren and how chaotic she truly is, because Sarah truly did give us her for the chaos.

What. Even. Is. She.

The Amren ACOTAR Paints

Okay so I am sure I am not alone in the club of people who first read about Amren and was like "... what am I reading???". She's a tiny High Fae (which is actually unusual given the stats) with something unnatural about her. And then you get the whole 'otherworldly being trapped in a fae body thing' and then she drinks blood and it just leaves one wondering what is she

The Truth About Amren

If you don't want spoilers about what Amren is, don't read this! Now, there's a lot of hints to this in the books (ie. Lamb's Blood on the doors while she's hunting or simply her preference for Lamb's Blood in general) but SJM has explicitly stated in an interview that Amren is an Old-Testament Biblically Accurate Angel shoved into fae form. Which is absolutely rad if you ask me but also really terrifying. It fully explains why they tried to imprison her, and why Rhys would want to die before seeing her have to clean up any messes.

Iconic Moments

As terrifying as she is Amren is an absolute icon. Let's take a look at some of the most iconic things she has said and done.

Inspiration

Let's be real, Amren has said some pretty inspirational things in the course of the series. Here are some of my favorites:

"I have known many High Lord," Amren continued, studying her paper. "Cruel ones, cunning ones, weak ones, powerful ones. But never one that dreamed. Not as he does."

"That's the key, isn't it? To know the darkness will always remain, but how you choose to face it, handle it... that's the most important part. To not let it consume. To focus upon the good, the things that fill you with wonder." She gestured to the stars zooming past. "The struggle with that darkness is worth it, just to see such things.”

"I like her because so few do. I like her because she is not easy to be around, or to understand."

Crack

Being what she is has caused some very funny moments for Amren, just on the basis of being an outsider looking in on a lot of society. Here are some of my favorites:

Her not knowing how to use a bathroom after how many centuries of being trapped in a High Fae body???

Tiny Ancient One

"Pick on someone your own size."
"I'd feel bad for the field mice."

I know that she gives a lot of the fandom the heeby-jeebies, but I actually really like Amren. I wanna see more of her- and maybe more of how she came to be trapped. She's an intriguing character! What do you think of Amren?
