Alright, full disclosure- even the people running our site have people to report to. And sometimes those people give us some super helpful suggestions about what kinds of content we should consider posting to our site to draw more people in. Recently we were provided with some of the top Google searches in relation to our fandom. Most of them are what you'd expect- Feyre, Lucien, Tamlin, the likes. And of course: 'Amarantha'.
Yes, the would-be Queen herself. We all love to hate her. So hate her we will! No punches will be spared today, it's a full- on hate fest. And in case you're wondering, and soon as we get the chance to hate on Timmy Tam Tam that era is coming too. But for now, all aboard the hate train! Amarantha is simply the worst!
Because she deserves to be mocked. Really and truly. Never have I read a character easier to dislike.
Ok before I get into this let me just say I feel vindicated. Apparently we were supposed to read Amarantha as this stunningly beautiful woman, but honestly if someone's got an ugly heart I always imagine them being ugly. But I was scrolling through TikTok (for reasearch, I assure you) and came across a video that said all the person could imagine when reading about Amarantha was Helena Bonham Carter's Queen of Hearts, and yeah. That's just about right.
You can't tell me that's not her.
Ok I'm gonna mock Tamarantha a bit more thoroughly in a bit, but like. She knew him as a kid. It's one thing to have an age gap relationship in a world of immortals and another entirely to pursue an age gap relationship with someone you knew as a child. Creepy much, Amarantha?
Amarantha makes this part so, so easy
Either that or like she's the most vain woman in the fae realm. She never questioned Rhysand even though he was so obviously going to betray her the entire time. That actually might be the source of all of her problems tbh. She trusted Rhysand, who she captured and was holding each night against his will. Like. In what world do you think that's going to inspire loyalty? Especially in a notoriously crafty High Lord? Dumbie.
Because holding the man who you're crushing on against his will and killing his girlfriend is notably the best way to inspire him to fall in love with you. I'm compelled by the theory that Amarantha and Tamlin were a situation of a mating bond, but seriously... seriously. There's nothing about that realtionship that isn't laughable on her part. I mean, other than the fact that it's kinda icky. Like how desperate do you have to be to literally ditch the entire plan to conquer Prythian in favor of trapping your would-be boy toy? Girly he's not even worth it.
I love hating Amarantha, we should do this again.
