Ah, Prythian. Land of the Fae. Divided into Courts, and home to some of the prettiest people to grace any plane. From Illyrians to Lesser Fae to Seraphim to High Fae, Pythian is the Fae Homeworld. It's a beautiful land full of it's own unique culture. We'd all be lying if we said we didn't want to live there- that's why we're here on WoHF. But what is it about Prythian that calls to us? Let's take a look!
Of course quite a bit of Prythian's culture stems around it's magic- Calanmai being the main manifestation of that. Ah, Calanmai. It's not the only of Prythian's holidays to celebrate magic, though. There's Nynsar, Starfall, and Summer Solstice. Most of these magical holidays also focus on the concept of a balance in the universe, which I think is beautiful
Have you noticed that light is also a large practice in many of Prythian's holidays? There's Summer Solstice and it's sun imagery (that Feyre so cleverly exploited) and Calanmai and it's firelight. Even Starfall emphasizes the light of the sun. I think that's because after years under Amarantha's rule Under the Mountain, any light represents freedom- and boy do they make the most of that freedom. It's beautiful, and sometimes just a little bit spicy- but that's what we're here for, isn't it?
Now, this one varies from Court to Court. Obviously life in Spring Court is not nearly as fun as it should be, and as a firm supporter of coups I believe something ought to be done about that. But... otherwise, a day in Prythian would kinda be like a day in our world but better, would it not? You get up, you can either go to work or party no judgement on either (especially not in the party culture courts- looking at you, Summer and Day), you make bank, go out with friends. THings aren't as complicated as they are here- no bills to pay unless you're under Tampon's rule, no technology, and as much or little social pleasure as you please. Plus there's magic to make things even more convenient. Plus you're perfectly acclimatized to your environment. It's pretty great when you think about it.
Or a lack thereof, really. Are there any politics in Prythian with the High Lord system in place? Because it mostly seems like magic appoints leaders, not people. That's probably a better system anyway. At least if *ahem* some bad apples get into Court, you can blame it on the magic and not people's stupidity. But that aside, most of the High Lords seem pretty great. Not TamTam or Beron, mind you, but Helion? Tarquin? Even Rhys and Kallias or Thesan? They're all fairly kind to their people. They treat them well. They make sure their citizen have pleasure to mix with their business. It's a fun environment in those courts. We're two coups away from perfection
I think what I mean to say is the reason Prythian calls to us as loudly as it does is because it's so similar to our own world, but with just a few fantastical adjustments to make it better. It doesn't feel so out of reach to us, but it's still magical. There's a genuine sense that any reader could belong there.
If you could live in Prythian, where would you live? What would you do with your life? And don't forget, we have a Prythian Fae class that will award you with a Prythian Race once successfully completed, so run to do that!
