'Cassian'

Alright, full disclosure- even the people running our site have people to report to. And sometimes those people give us some super helpful suggestions about what kinds of content we should consider posting to our site to draw more people in. Recently we were provided with some of the top Google searches in relation to our fandom. Most of them are what you'd expect- Feyre, Lucien, Tamlin, the likes. And of course: 'Cassian'.

Whether or not he ended up actually being a stellar mate, I think we all fantasized just a little bit about Cassian being our mate while reading through the series. Let's have a bit of fun with our big bat baby.

Rambles on Cassian

Where Rhysand is Bat Boy #1, Cassian is #2. And there's a good reason why

Cassian, A Man of Many Titles

Cassian Archeron; warrior, bastard, himbo, brother, friend and lover. These are all words that can be used to describe the general and command of the night court. However, that is not all that he is known by. Oh no, in fact this large winged boy is known by several titles, some official and some not, such as and certainly not limited to: lord of bloodshed, prince of bastards, warrior heart and carynthian. And while prince of bastards has a pretty nice ring to it, I’m partial to the nicknames Pigeon and Illyrian baby, both of which were used by two of the three Archeon sisters. I wonder what Elain will call him when the time comes.

The Best Friend

He is a fiercely loyal and deeply devoted friend. This is shown continuously with his actions throughout the series with Rhysand, Azriel, Mor and the Archeron sisters. Cassian goes out of his way to understand and make meaningful connections with each of them. Although sometimes, what he considers to be helpful and thoughtful advice can often lead to even more trouble. Even when there were good intentions at hand. But I still think that some acknowledgment should be given for the fact that he tried, even if it didn’t necessarily go according to plan. More personality traits of his includes being kind, supportive, brave and having a great deal of strength.

Being Real

Cassian's not perfect... and now it's time to pick at him a little. Don't worry, Cassie baby, we still love you.

Cassian is Growing

he has his flaws, the same as anyone would. For example, I think he could easily be described as impulsive, reckless and less than understanding to Nesta who clearly was suffering from poor mental health. He may not be the best courtier of the land, but he certainly tries. I also think there is certainly room for improvement in regards to becoming a better and more understanding mate. I mean, come on dude, tell her you love Nesta if that’s how you feel. However, I suppose there’s different love languages. Like I said, there is definitely room for improvement, but compared to some of the less than desirable traits of other characters throughout the series, it hardly seems to be something considered to be a red flag.

... It's the Friends We Make Along The Way

One thing I think is particularly interesting is the fact that typical Illyrian warriors are known to wear one to two siphons in order to channel their raw power, however Cassian (and Azriel) have seven siphons. What is it exactly that makes the pair of them so powerful? Does being a bastard born Illyrian have that much of an effect when it comes to power? Come to think of it, the pair are the first Illyrian bastards to ever receive siphons in the war camps. Both of them are full blooded Illyrians, the same as any other. So being considered a “half breed”, like Rhysand, can’t be a reason behind why both of them are so powerful. Maybe, just maybe, the reason behind why the trio is so powerful is because of the love they have for each other and their sense of brotherhood.

Cassian has several good scenes and even some spicy ones depending on what book you are on. What is your favorite Cassian scene? Personally, mine would have to be when he was in the Spring Court and kept sneezing because of the pollen.

I would also love to know your theories on why he is banned from the Summer Court. Banning someone over just one building seems like a bit of a stretch, doesn’t it? Perhaps there is more to the story than what we’re being told. Feel free to leave your ideas down below.
