Let's recap: even the people running our site have people to report to. And sometimes those people give us some super helpful suggestions about what kinds of content we should consider posting to our site to draw more people in, because the more the merrier (obviously). Recently we were provided with some of the top Google searches in relation to our fandom. And out of those, one of the more interesting ones was 'tamlin mask' or 'Tamlin Mask ACOTAR'.
I wish less people googled Tamlin but I get it- he's the first love interest we meet. But through taking a look through fandom, there's actually a lot of fun little quips floating around surrounding his mask. So let's spend this Fan Friday doing one of my favorite things: making fun of Tamlin.
Tamlin's mask is on his face for the entirety of A Court of Thorns and Roses. He's literally been cursed to wear the thing for fifty years. Which has led to a few funny observations and thoughts.
Some people are into it. Some people aren't. But no one can contest that whether he liked it or not Tamlin was wearing that mask for all the spice in book one. Calanmai? Under the Mountain? Mask on- and not in the sexy planned way, not that he could pull that off anyway.
So Tamlin's described as being sunkissed and well tanned, because the Spring Court is super sunny. Makes sense! But it does eventually come off when the curse is broken (sorry, spoilers). Which means he's gonna have 50 years worth of tanlines to compensate for- or as the fandom has dubbed them, Tamlines. He's basically got a built in mask under the mask, and it had to have taken a while to even out his skin again.
Now comes the part of the article when I get to take what we've been talking about and just run with it, which is particularly gratifying when I get to mock Tamlin with reckless abandon. Buckle up.
Fifty years of half of your face being stuck under a covering... that just sounds like a breakout waiting to happen to me. Plus that thing has to have collected so much dirt. Knowing Sarah, High Lords probably have pretty priveleges and don't get acne but like for me? No thanks.
And I know what you're thinking- the mask is only on the top half of the face. But like cheeks are a big part of eating, and the mask would absolutely restrict cheek movement. That has to hurt! No wonder he's so snippy, I would be too!
